Eberg is a 6 department kindergarten in the centre of Trondheim, Norway. It is located near the primary school, sports centre and recreation area. The building is on two floors, four departments are on the ground floor and two departments are on the upper floor along with the management and staff facilities. Every two departments share a private entrance, a wardrobe, kitchen and multipurpose spaces. In the middle of the building is a common hall with a high ceiling that combines both floors. The main building material is wood with a natural finish while alcoves are painted in different colors defining the departments. Vertical wood trim with different intervals create a playful and dynamic facade. Each department has a protruding window that breaks up the facade and is a place for children to sit. Part of the roof of the first floor is used as a playground with a ramp connecting both areas together that can be used as a sledding hill in winter. Handicapped accessibility is also incorporated into the exterior paths and provides an easy access to the playground.
