Ålgård Shopping Centre

The station is centrally located in Ålgård, outside of Stavanger. The project involves an extension to the existing shopping center and apartments, spanning four floors from the third to the sixth floor.

The existing buildings present a composite image of structures with different expressions and materials from various periods. These have little internal cohesion and give a fragmented and cluttered impression. Our goal has been to unify the new and old parts of the buildings with a cohesive, recognizable facade expression that allows the building to appear as an attractive and modern central structure. Parts of the apartment blocks are stepped back to create an undulating "urban terrain" that reflects the surrounding hilly landscape.
